The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau announced an interim president and CEO following the recent resignation of Karen Riordan.

Tracy Conner will take over the duties and will collaborate with the Chamber’s board of directors and staff for a search for a permanent replacement, according to a press release.

Conner has resigned his position with Golf Tourism Solutions and will step away from his day-to-day operations as executive director of the Myrtle Beach Golf Course Owners Association while serving the Chamber, according to Marlane White, director of communications with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

Conner’s appointment comes after the sudden resignation of Riordan on June 28, 2024. Riordan left to pursue new opportunities and spend more time with her family, according to a Chamber release.

Her tenure at the chamber and CVB began in 2018, which coincided with several notable events starting along the Grand Strand.

Conner has been actively involved with the Chamber and CVB for several years, serving on the board of directors and as chair of the advocacy council. He and his wife, Debbie, who is a Myrtle Beach city council member, are long-time residents of Myrtle Beach, the release said.

Through his leadership positions with organizations such as the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association and Golf Tourism Solutions, he has played a crucial role in marketing the Grand Strand as the “Golf Capital of the World,” securing the PGA TOUR’s Myrtle Beach Classic and ensuring the success of its inaugural tournament.
