A 32-year-old man living near Surfside Beach died Monday morning after being pulled from the ocean and taken to the hospital, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

Christopher Burns is suspected of dying by accidental drowning after being pulled from the ocean near 3rd Ave. S. in Myrtle Beach, the coroner’s office stated in a news release.

An autopsy is scheduled for later this week, and Myrtle Beach Police is investigating.

About a dozen people have drowned in Myrtle Beach area waters since last year, The Sun News previously reported.

Most recently, a 55-year-old father from Virginia died from drowning May 16 after being pulled from the ocean near North Myrtle Beach.
