A North Carolina-based seafood restaurant will open a new location in North Myrtle Beach – its first in South Carolina.

Cape Fear Seafood Co. is expected to open in September in the former World of Beer location in North Myrtle Beach, according to Matt Kahrs, franchise director for the company. World of Beer, located at 1386 U.S. 17 N., announced its sudden closing in April.

Demolition for the new location has already begun, Kahrs said.

The company has six locations in North Carolina – two in Wilmington, two in Raleigh and others in Wake Forest and Belville. It has been in business for 16 years and decided to begin expanding “a little more serious in 2016,” according to Kahrs.

The restaurant will have the same menu as its current locations but will have different beer offerings, as the North Myrtle Beach area has more beer options, Kahrs said.

Many of the draft beers offered at the North Carolina locations are from local brewers.

The restaurant also serves steak, pasta, fish tacos, salads and sandwiches, including burgers.

The new owners were interested in the location as they “vacation (in North Myrtle Beach) every once in a while,” Kahrs said.

“We see this as a great market,” he said.
