A mini-golf course that closed in 2023 after more than 30 years in business could return to the Surfside Beach area with a new look.

Adventure Falls Golf closed in September 2023 with plans to re-open. Construction workers and heavy machinery work on the putt-putt place at 735 Business Highway 17 in Surfside Beach. The course looks different, though. The smiling Octopus that greeted putt-putters as they played and rivers as they sped by is gone, replaced with a cavern-like structure.

It’s unclear when the re-imagined putt-putt course will re-open. According to Horry County Land Records, LTG-SURF LLC owns the property. The less than three acre property sold for less than a million dollars in 2022, although it has a market value of $79,200, according to Horry County Land Records.

LTG-Surf LLC’s registered agent, Christopher Bethea, did not return a request for comment before publication.

Myrtle Beach is sometimes called the “Mini Golf Capital of the World,” and the Grand Strand has made room for new courses and national events in recent years. In 2023, Aloha Mini Golf in Myrtle Beach hosted a World Putting League match.

The year 2023 also saw the opening of Red Dragon Cove Adventure Golf, a Pirate-themed course that took inspiration from the famed 19th-century corsair Zheng Yi Sao, who sailed the oceans off the coast of China and featured a junk ship in homage to the raider.
