A Myrtle Beach area man will be vying for a rose on the upcoming season of “The Bachelorette.”

Sam McKinney, whose social media pages have him from Murrells Inlet, was one of 25 men selected for the reality TV show’s cast. The men will be competing for the affections of Jenn Tran, a Vietnamese-American who will be the first Asian bachelorette.

The season will premiere July 8 on ABC.

McKinney was not available for an interview, according to an email from Brett Levine, senior publicist for ABC Entertainment. Levine said the men would not be available for interviews until their time on the show has concluded.

ABC released information about the men ahead of the show.

Here are five things to know about the 27-year-old South Carolina man:

1. He went to Socastee High School,

According to his Facebook page, and played football there. His bio also says he was homeschooled.

He also loves watching the FX TV show “Sons of Anarchy,” which is about an outlaw motorcycle club.

5. He officiated his sister’s wedding recently

And speaking of romance and love, he says cheating is his No. 1 deal breaker.
