2 boats collide on Memorial Day in Horry County. One transported by helicopter to hospital

Two boats collided Memorial Day on the Little Pee Dee River near the Horry County line.

The accident happened at 5:33 p.m. Monday and two people were injured, according to the Horry County Fire Rescue. A center-console boat and a jon boat hit each other head on in a curvy section of the river, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources said.

Rescue crews were dispatched to the area of the Sandy Bluff Landing in Nichols where those injured were transported to the hospital, one by medical helicopter. The crash injured the two people in the jon boat but they are both stable, according to the SCDNR.

South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Horry County Police Department are investigating.
