The Seaside Market in Murrells Inlet has closed after being sold less than a year after it first opened.

The market’s Facebook page said it’s last day of operation was on April 21. It officially opened in June 2023 near the MarshWalk.

Benjie Andrew, who was involved in developing the business, described the business in an earlier interview as a general store, offering everything from food items, produce, clothing, jewelry, hot dogs and ice cream. The main focus was on produce and products from local farmers and South Carolina businesses.

Andrew declined Friday to say what will be moving into the store as contract negotiations are continuing, but noted that it’s a good thing that the store will be filled once again.

“Small businesses are made to build and sell,” Andrew said.
