One dead in house fire in Horry County. It’s the second person to die in a fire in days
An early morning house fire Monday in Loris left one man dead and his residence destroyed.
Cecil Floyd, 69, died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries after his house caught fire about 1 a.m., according to Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.
Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a call about a structure fire in the 3000 block of Gause Road in Loris.
The fire started at 1 a.m. and a 911 call was made at 1:06 a.m., according to Willard.
This is the second person to die from a house fire in a week.
Martha Bibbee, 63, of Nichols, died on Feb. 29 after her house caught on fire, The Sun News reported. Bibbee died of smoke inhalation, according to the coroner’s office.
