Homeless man in Myrtle Beach allegedly killed by teen named. He had ‘chopping’ injuries
Myrtle Beach Police charged a North Carolina man with murder after a dead body was found Wednesday in the 1600 block of Plaza Place, according to a Facebook post.
Myrtle Beach Police charged 18-year-old Everett Ellis, of Wilson, North Carolina, with murder, said Cpl. Chris Starling.
Robert Khattar, 43, received multiple blunt force and chopping injuries to his face around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Horry County Coroner Tamara Willard.
It is unclear what led to Khattar’s death. He was a homeless man who lived in Myrtle Beach but was from Michigan originally, Willard said. He was sleeping near Grand Strand Power Equipment, which is around where the assault occurred.
Police were called about 7:18 a.m. Wednesday in regards to a deceased person, a Facebook post said. Detectives were on the scene Wednesday and said it is an active investigation.
Police and K9 units were on the scene near the Sherwin-Williams paint store on Wednesday. Starling said only business traffic is being allowed on the plaza. Police have the rest of the area blocked off with crime scene tape.
This is a developing story.
