Soiled ice machine, chemicals near food. Worst Myrtle Beach area restaurant inspections

You might not want to eat at a restaurant that puts toxic chemicals next to its food prep station or doesn’t give its employees a sink to wash their hands.

South Carolina reports grades and food inspections for eateries in Myrtle Beach and the rest of Horry County, with data current as of Jan. 17, 2024.

Here are the restaurants that had the worst inspections in the Myrtle Beach, SC area.

Doyle’s Pub & Grub

Location: 3901 Dick Pond Road Unit N, Myrtle Beach

Grade: 72 percent

Inspected Jan. 11, 2024, Doyle’s Pub was found to not have an employee sink in a newly built cooking room, was missing ceiling tiles in the kitchen and an unmarked chemical bottle sat next to a stove. Uncleaned pots and pans sat in a kitchen sink and perishable foods were not stored at a cold enough temperature.

Doyle’s was required to do a follow-up inspection within 10 days.

Route 17 Road House Bar & Grill

Location: 4711 S Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach

Grade: 86 percent

Inspected Jan. 12, 2024, A live roach was spotted during Route 17’s review and the ice machine had a soiled surface. Someone’s keys and an open bottle of chemicals were sitting on the maketop cooler cutting board.

An onsite follow-up in 10 days is required for Route 17, although a routine inspection isn’t required in 60 days.

Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar

Location: 4620 Dick Pond Road, Unit J

Grade: 88 percent

Inspected Jan. 10, 2024, Asian Bistro had a burnt-out light in the kitchen, and the handwashing sink had dirty knives in it. A cooler for roast beef, raw eggs and cooked noodles wasn’t cold enough and some in-use food containers did have their original container.

A follow-up inspection on-site will take place in 10 days, but a routine inspection in 60 days isn’t required.

Santino’s Pizza

Location: 2541 Highway 501, Aynor

Grade: 88 percent

Inspected on Jan. 11, 2024, Santino’s had a repeated violation for not having a certified food protection manager on-site.

A follow-up inspection on-site will take place in 10 days, but a routine inspection in 60 days isn’t required.
