Myrtle Beach Fire crews responded to a fire Tuesday evening at an Ocean Boulevard resort, Cpt. Jon Evans said.

The fire started in a room on the third floor of the Boardwalk Beach Resort, 2301 N. Ocean Blvd., Evans said. The fire was contained to the room and was believed to have started with contents inside the room, he said.

Crews responded to the fire about 7:30 p.m.

Hotel guests were being evacuated from the hotel because of the smoke, Evans said. He said crews were going from room to room at the hotel which has eight floors, making sure everyone was out.

No one was injured, but one person was transported to the hospital for difficulty breathing, Evans said.

Evans did not know how many people were evacuated. It’s also unclear if the room was occupied at the time.

A call to the resort Tuesday evening went unanswered.
