Mouse droppings. Broken fridge. Horry and Georgetown spots with worst restaurant inspections
From “black buildup” to onions on the floor, South Carolina health inspectors found numerous violations at Myrtle Beach-area restaurants this week.
The state releases grades and inspection reports for food establishments across Horry and Georgetown counties.
Here are the restaurants that received some of the lowest ratings this week.
Country Corner 7
- Location: 410 E. Brooks Road, Andrews
- Grade: C, 73% for a routine inspection on Dec. 7
Mice droppings were found behind the convection oven, on the shelves and in the dry storage area. The inspector wrote that “black buildup” was found on the floor under a refrigerator and freezer. Chemicals, including WD40 and disinfectants, were kept on the same shelf as food and cooking equipment. The required follow-up inspection was held on Dec. 15 and the restaurant got an A grade. Panthers (Plantersville General Store on Google)
- Location: 13812 N. Fraser St., Georgetown
- Grade: C, 81% for a follow-up inspection on Dec. 7.
The restaurant temporarily closed after this inspection because the coolers were not working properly. The DHEC inspector found onions stored on the floor and undated refrigerated meat, which were violations the shop failed to correct from their previous inspection. The establishment was allowed to reopen after their Dec. 12 follow-up inspection. Read the full report for Panthers.
