A popular Surfside Beach food truck is building on its success by opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant this spring.

Surf Dawgs Grill is set to open in the spring in Surfside Beach, according to owner Vince Grimaldi.

Grimaldi wasn’t ready to reveal the location of the new restaurant until he gets final approval of the permits.

The restaurant will serve between eight to 10 different gourmet hot dogs and burgers, called Paradise Burgers, as well as milkshakes and different versions of the brand’s Far-out Fries that include such flavors as Parmesan and buffalo bacon ranch.

“Just good ol’ American comfort food,” Grimaldi said.

Grimaldi can be seen at many festivals, farmers markets and special events with his food truck, Surf Dawgs. The brand started with a couple of push carts, which eventually moved up to the food truck a few years ago.

The food truck enabled Grimaldi to be able to do more festivals and catering, he said. He’s currently been offering his food at Brookgreen Gardens’ “Nights of a Thousand Candles.”

The new restaurant will have an updated website, www.surf-dawgs.com, soon.

Grimaldi said he lives and works in Surfside Beach, so “This was inevitable that we would eventually end up in a brick and mortar (building),” he said. “We love our town and want to be a part of it.”
