The owner of a Myrtle Beach area gymnastics facility has been placed on restrictions by a national sports organization after allegations of misconduct with minors.

Christopher Mula, owner of Beach Team Gymnastics at Terry and Don’s, has been ordered to have no unsupervised coaching and training of minors by the U.S. Center for SafeSport, an independent organization that prevents and responds to abuse and misconduct within the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic sports.

Additional restrictions include no contact directive and locker room restrictions. Mula received the restrictions Oct. 20.

Mula’s attorney was unavailable Wednesday morning and did not immediately return a phone call by publication. A message left with Mula Wednesday was not immediately returned.

It is unclear what misconduct is alleged against Mula. No criminal charges have been brought against Mula.

Mula coaches many levels of the competitive team and travels to competitions with teams each year, according to the company’s website. He has more than 15 years of coaching experience.

Center for SafeSport said the restrictions are pending an investigation and are subject to certain sanctions after the investigation.
