A Myrtle Beach area Japanese restaurant announced its closing today.

Nakato Japanese Restaurant announced via its Facebook page that the eatery was closing.

“We can’t thank you enough for supporting us during the past 45 years,” The restaurant wrote on its Facebook page. “Many of you have become our family and friends and included Nakato as a part of your family’s tradition. We will truly miss that.”

The restaurant added that it had been in litigation with its insurance company after a 2019 fire that damaged the property.

Ultimately, the dispute made it difficult for the restaurant to re-open, which had been a part of Myrtle Beach for nearly half a century.
