Update: MarshWalk evacuated after Georgetown County police receive bomb threat
The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is responding to a bomb threat along the MarshWalk in Murrells Inlet.
Police said a person called dispatch about 4 p.m. Friday, claiming to have placed a bomb in a garbage can, according to a press release.
Those in the area have been evacuated and businesses were locked down, the release said.
Dead Dog Saloon and The Claw House restaurants posted on Facebook that they are temporarily closed but hope to be back open Friday night for entertainment and the Wonderland of Lights Christmas light show.
Dogs trained to detect explosives and bomb technicians searched the area and have not found any explosives, an updated release at 5:39 pm. said.
