‘Many flies.’ Malfunctioning cooler. Myrtle Beach area restaurants with worst inspections

From dirty walls to bottles stored in ice used in beverages, South Carolina health inspectors found numerous violations at Myrtle Beach-area restaurants this week.

The state releases grades and inspection reports various times a year for food establishments across Horry and Georgetown counties.

Here are the restaurants that received some of the lowest ratings for the week of Nov. 6 through Nov. 9.

Desayunador los GordiBuenos

  • Location: 357 Highway 17 Business, Surfside Beach
  • Grade: B, 78% for a routine inspection on Nov. 7

An inspector found that some of the refrigerators did not keep food cold enough at this Surfside Beach Mexican restaurant. Beverage bottles were stored in ice used for customer drinks and flies were found in the dry storage room. The required follow-up inspection was held on Nov. 17 and the restaurant got a B grade. Loris IGA Deli

  • Location: 3030 Broad St., Loris
  • Grade: B, 86% for a follow-up inspection on Nov. 9

The kitchen had “many flies” on counter tops and other surfaces, an inspector observed at this grocery store deli. The hot and cold fried chicken, among other items, were kept at temperatures that did not prevent bacteria growth. In a corner of the kitchen, the walls and ceilings were dirty.
