Briarcliffe Acres mayor, incumbent council member re-elected in unopposed races
David Buonviri will remain Braircliffe Acres mayor while Peggy Bell will continue to sit on the town council after Tuesday’s election results.
Joining Bell on the town council is newcomer Brian McIntyre.
Buonviri, Bell and McIntyre all ran unopposed for their positions.
Buonviri won 85 votes, while Bell received 84 votes and McIntyre 82, according to results posted on the door of the Briarcliffe Acres town hall.
In an interview with The Sun News prior to the election, Buonviri said his priority was to maintain the safety of the town, pave roads, assess the area’s stormwater management program and implement any needed changes.
McIntyre, who was running for the first time, also said road work and town safety were priorities, in an interview with The Sun News on election night.
Bell could not be reached for comment before publication.
Buonviri first became mayor in 2020 after winning a special election, according to a WBTW report.
An election certification meeting will be held at the Briarcliffe town hall at 9 a.m. Nov. 9, according to the town clerk.
