Update: Body of missing boater recovered along river on Horry-Georgetown county line
The body of a missing boater involved in a two-boat collision at the Horry-Georgetown County line has been recovered.
Horry County Fire Rescue dive team recovered the body Thursday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
Harvey Gene Altman, 79, of Loris, died from injuries he sustained in the crash near the Yauhannah Bridge located along Highway 701 near the Bucksport area, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.
SCDNR posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the collision happened Thursday morning on the Pee Dee River.
The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office reported that its marine unit assisted the SCDNR in searching for the missing boater following the accident near the Yauhannah Bridge.
