A woman was killed Tuesday evening when her vehicle went off the highway and struck a utility pole, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Nicole Dunleavy, 35, of the Myrtle Beach area, died as a result of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle collision, the Horry County Coroner’s Office said Wednesday.

The accident occurred about 6:45 p.m. on Cates Bay Highway near Townsend Lane in Conway, according to a report from Master Trooper Gary Miller.

The driver was the only person in the 2003 Chevrolet pickup and died when the vehicle hit the pole and overturned, the report said.

Horry County Fire Rescue and Conway Fire Department responded.
