Update: Coroner identifies person killed in house fire Thursday in Murrells Inlet
One person was killed in an early morning mobile home fire in Murrells Inlet.
Sherry Risner, 62, died at the home on Shamrock Circle, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office Friday. Risner died of asphyxiation due to smoke inhalation.
Fire crews with Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire District were called to the house fire about 7 a.m. Thursday on Shamrock Circle, according to Deputy Chief Jeff Kosto.
Kosto said there were large amounts of fire coming from the structure.
One person was able to get out of the home and was transported to the hospital with injuries.
Crews searched for the second person, who was killed in the fire.
The fire was contained by crews, Kosto said.
Kosto said the fire marshal was on the scene Thursday.
Crews from Horry County Fire Rescue also responded.
