Pink sludge. Hanging fly strips. Myrtle Beach area restaurants with the worst inspections

From coolers not closing properly to no soap at the hand-washing sink, South Carolina health inspectors found numerous violations at Myrtle Beach-area restaurants this week.

The state releases grades and inspection reports for food establishments across Horry and Georgetown counties.

Here are the restaurants that received some of the lowest ratings this week.

Chili’s Grill and Bar in Carolina Forest

  • Location: 100 Orchard Drive, Myrtle Beach
  • Grade: B, 79% for a routine inspection on Aug. 9

An inspector found pink sludge and mildew on the ice machine. Flies landed on cooling racks and sheets. Two coolers did not close properly, and hot and cold food were not held at the proper temperatures. A required followup inspection has not yet been held. Read Chili’s full report.

Pirate’s Table Calabash Seafood Buffet

  • Location: 1100 Water Ave., Surfside Beach
  • Grade: B, 81% for a routine inspection on Aug. 8

The inspector saw fly strips hanging in both prep areas. Beef was defrosting at room temperature and fish in the kitchen was not kept cold enough. The restaurant’s back door had a gap at the bottom. A required followup inspection has not yet been held. Read the full report for Pirate’s Table.

Rustic Table

  • Location: 10683 Ocean Highway, Unit A, Pawleys Island
  • Grade: B, 82% for a routine inspection on Aug. 10

The inspector discovered flies in the facility and fly strips over a kitchen prep surface. The solution in the sanitizer bucket was just water. The restaurant’s walk-in freezer wasn’t cool enough. A required followup inspection has not yet been held. Read Rustic Table’s full report.

After Six Bar and Grill

  • Location: 630 S. Fraser St., Georgetown
  • Grade: B, 85% for a routine inspection on Aug. 9

The kitchen’s handwashing sink was out of soap, an inspector observed. Pest spray was found in the bar area and bulk containers were not labeled with their contents. A required followup inspection was held on Aug. 15 and the restaurant got an A grade. Read the full report for After Six.

Clubhouse Bar and Grill

  • Location: 77 Highway 17 S., North Myrtle Beach
  • Grade: B, 85% for a routine inspection on Aug. 7

The inspector found containers of food stored in ice intended for consumption. When tested, the bar dish machine was found to not contain chlorine. Debris had accumulated on the kitchen floors. A required followup inspection has not yet been held. Read the Clubhouse’s full report.
