One person was killed and another was transported to a hospital following a crash on Highway 701 Thursday morning.

The crash happened around 10:47 a.m., according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Lanny Cartrette, 74, of Aynor, died on the scene from his injuries, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office Saturday.

The accident happened in the area of Highway 701 and Paradise Estates Drive in Conway, according to a Twitter post from Horry County Fire Rescue. The lanes were blocked and one of the vehicles overturned, the post said.

A 15-year-old driving a Chevrolet pick-up truck was traveling south when the car crossed into the center of the roadway and crashed head-on with a 1988 Dodge pick-up truck, Master Trooper Brandon Bolt said.
