A 30-year-old Little River man died Saturday night after a wreck in the Longs area, authorities said.

Edgar David Perez Guerra, who was originally from Honduras but was living on the Grand Strand, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, said Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden.

The collision happened around 6:30 p.m. on Pine Needle Drive near Freemont Road, said Lance Cpl. Judd Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Guerra was heading north in a 2008 Ford van when he drove off the right side of the road and struck a tree, Jones said. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. A passenger, who wasn’t identified, was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
