What do you want to know about SC’s bugs? Submit your questions here for an insect expert

From termites to palmetto bugs, you can find a variety of insects inside and outside your Myrtle Beach home. This summer, you might be swatting away fruit flies, itching a no-see-um bite or admiring the butterflies.

With over 100,000 species of insects in South Carolina, you might have questions about your tiny neighbors.

Now’s your chance to have them answered by the South Carolina state entomologist, Tim Drake. An insect expert with Clemson University, Drake has helped oversee the state’s invasive insect regulations in this position since 2018.

Curious if there’s a difference between palmetto bugs and cockroaches? Want to learn how to attract pollinators to your garden? Wonder how the state keeps the mosquito population down?

Submit your bug questions in the form below or by clicking here. If you need to include a photo, email it to enash@thesunnews.com. Drake will answer some of these questions in an upcoming story.

By filling out the form, you give permission to use your question in a future article.
