Update: 11-year-old Massachusetts girl killed after Little River boating accident
An 11-year-old Massachusetts girl died of injuries sustained from a boating accident along the Intracoastal Waterway in Little River on July 19, the Horry County Coroner’s Office reported.
Olivia Knighton died at a local hospital some time later in the day. An autopsy is slated for Friday, and the incident remains under investigation by the state Department of Natural Resources.
Horry County Fire Rescue crews responded around 12:17 p.m. to Waterfront Avenue. It’s unclear if anyone else was taken to a hospital.
It’s also unclear what the incident involved.
