Grand Strand man retiring earlier than expected after winning $2 million lottery
A Grand Strand man is retiring earlier than expected after winning $2 million playing the South Carolina Education Lottery.
“I’m not making any big purchases,” the winner told lottery officials in a pres release. “I’m investing it, so I can knock some years off my retirement.”
The South Carolina Education Lottery did not include the name of the winner.
According to the release, he said he was on his way home when he changed his mind and went inside the Food Lion grocery store on Belle Terre Blvd for a Powerball ticket and a winning $20 scratch-off
The Food Lion received a commission of $20,000 for selling the ticket.
He texted his wife a photo of the ticket. They both plan to retire early, the release said.
The winner beat a 1 in 1,245,000 odd of winning. There are five more top prizes of $2 million remaining in the Fastest Road to $2,000,000 game.
