Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach has welcomed two new animals - Rico and Cleo.

They are two-toed sloths and are part of the new Sloth Valley exhibit that has opened at its Broadway at the Beach location.

The Linnaeus’ two-toed sloths are typically larger than their three-toed cousins, according to the aquarium.

The aquarium gave descriptions of their new, slow-moving residents. Rico loves butternut squash and Cleo enjoys a nap or fruit, often falling asleep with food in her mouth.

A grand opening for the exhibit happened Friday.

The aquarium announced in January that it would open a new habitat for two-toed sloths.

“In Sloth Valley, Aquarium guests will come face-to-face with two-toed sloths to learn about this adorable, slow-moving species,” a press release said. “They will then be able to set sail on adventure as Ripley’s Aquarium brings new excitement to its Discovery Center, inviting guests to walk the plank and dive into oceans of family fun with a brand-new play structure, interactive experiences, and hands-on animal encounters.”

The Sloth Valley habitat is located at its Discovery Center.
