A Myrtle Beach woman was identified as the person who died in a single-vehicle accident Monday after the vehicle she was riding in struck a tree.

Courtney Bebee, 24, who was originally from Texas but lived in Myrtle Beach, was the passenger in the vehicle and died from injuries suffered in the accident, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the accident that happened about 1 p.m. on SC 31 in the Myrtle Beach area.

The single-vehicle wreck involved a GMC suburban, which had two occupants, said Cpl. Tyler Tidwell.

The driver was taken to the hospital. It is not known the person’s condition.

The GMC was southbound on S.C. 31 when it ran off the right side of the highway before hitting a tree near the 16 mile marker about 1:10 p.m., according to Tidwell.

This is the second accident that occurred two days apart in which a person died after their vehicle struck a tree.

Logan Hewitt, 23, of Whiteville, North Carolina, died from injuries sustained in a crash on S.C. 905, the coroner’s office said Tuesday.

Hewitt was traveling north on the highway when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree.
