Man’s body found in Intracoastal Waterway
The body of a white man with short blonde hair was found floating in the Intracoastal Waterway Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Officials have not identified the man, who was discovered by boaters at the landing around 4:15 p.m., said Lt. Raul Denis with the Horry County Police Department. He said there are no obvious signs of foul play, but police are still investigating what led to the man’s death.
Police haven’t received reports of anyone missing from that area recently.
“[The body] looked like it’s pretty bloated, kind of like it’s been in the water for over 24 hours easily,” Denis said. “So it might a little bit of a chore to ID at first.”
Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick said the man appears to be between 30 and 50 years old. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday morning at Grand Strand Medical Center, Hendrick said.
