Update: A North Carolina woman who died Monday in a Horry County crash has been identified

A North Carolina woman died following a single-vehicle crash near North Myrtle Beach Monday afternoon, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

Shanita Williams, 34, died of injuries sustained in the wreck, said Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden.

Williams was from the Selma community, McSpadden added.

A Ford sedan was traveling north on S.C. 31 toward S.C. 9 on the on-ramp when the car hit a guard rail on the right side of the road, went down an embankment and hit a tree, said S.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brandon Bolt.

The crash happened two miles north of North Myrtle Beach about 3:40 p.m., according to Bolt.

The other three people in the car, including a 10-year-old and 13-year-old, were transported to a local hospital. Their conditions are unclear.
