Myrtle Beach hotel is evacuated after crane overturns and falls into the building
A crane working on a nearby construction site overturned Monday afternoon, falling into a neighboring hotel and causing it to be evacuated, according to the Myrtle Beach Fire Department.
The incident happened about 1 p.m. at the Boardwalk Beach Resort, 2200 N. Ocean Blvd., according to a Facebook post from the fire department.
Myrtle Beach Police also responded and part of Ocean Boulevard is closed.
No injuries were reported, but there is damage to the resort, the post said.
Occupants of the hotel were evacuated. Officials are asking people to avoid the area.
