Driver who died in wrong-way crash near Highway 9 in Horry County identified
A driver has died in a two-vehicle collision Thursday evening, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said Friday.
The accident occurred on Carolina Bays Parkway near Highway 9, according to Lance Cpl. Nick Pye.
The deceased driver was identified by the coroner’s office as Casey Amorose, 33, of the Myrtle Beach area, Darris Fowler said Friday. The victim died at McLeod Sea Coast Emergency Room about 9:15 p.m., the coroner’s office said in an email.
The driver who died was traveling in a 2017 Toyota Sedan north in the southbound lane of Carolina Bays Parkway when it collided with a 2021 Hyundai Sedan traveling south on Carolina Bays Parkway.
The two people in the second vehicle also were transported to the hospital.
The accident occurred about 8:30 p.m.
The Horry County Fire Rescue and other agencies assisted in the accident.
