New Myrtle Beach coffee and ice cream shop to offer 16 seasonal flavors
Chef Heidi Vukov will add to her restaurant group this spring by opening a new ice cream and drive-thru coffee shop.
Vukov is opening Coffee & Cream Cabana at Heidi’s Corner on Kings Highway and 82nd Avenue. The ice cream shop will feature 16 seasonal flavors made on site, along with freshly roasted coffee.
The new shop, which is expected to open in May, will be located near Croissants Bistro & Bakery and seafood restaurant Hook & Barrel.
“We weren’t sure if we were going to do ice cream or gelato,” Vukov said Friday.
But after Vukov, along with veteran manager Megan Fenwick, attended Frozen Dessert University in the fall, ice cream came out on top.
“Ice cream is actually more healthy for you,” Vukov said. “Because (ice cream) has a higher fat content, it’s lower in sugar.”
The homemade ice cream served at Coffee & Cream Cabana will have a high butter fat, she added.
Vukov also plans to use local fruits that are in season for the different flavors. That means that the flavors won’t be the same every year. But there will always be vanilla, chocolate and South Carolina’s favorite flavor, butter pecan, Vukov said.
Coffee & Cream Cabana also will feature dairy-free options, along with homemade waffle cones, cookie ice cream sandwiches and ice cream cakes.
The drive-thru coffee shop will feature specialty coffees using roasted coffee from Croissants Bistro & Bakery, which has coffee roasters on staff, Vukov said. There also will be light fare food options and treats.
