Another agency joins search for missing boater Tyler Doyle
A Wisconsin search and rescue group has joined efforts to find missing duck hunter Tyler Doyle, according to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
Wings of Hope Search and Rescue, of Medford, is using boats equipped with underwater sonar and 3D imaging, cadaver dogs and drones, department spokesman Greg Lucas said in a Wednesday text message. The nonprofit group started assisting on Tuesday after volunteering to help.
The organization “specializes in aerial and under water search and rescue utilizing drones,” according to its website.
Its been nearly two weeks since Doyle, of Loris, went missing from his jon boat Jan. 26 after taking on water near a Little River jetty. SCDNR officially identified him as the missing boater Tuesday.
Lucas said the Sunset Beach Police Department and the Holden Beach Police Department will be out Wednesday assisting with daily beach patrols.
Meanwhile, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office will be searching by boat with the DNR.
The search will continue until Doyle is rescued or his body is recovered, Lucas has said.
Multiple agencies have participated in the search for Doyle. The U.S. Coast Guard suspended their search Jan. 27 after about 45 hours and more than 694 miles covered. The North Myrtle Beach Rescue squad stopped their daily searches Saturday.
The missing boater has gotten the attention of thousands of people nationwide as the search for him continues.
