Aynor woman follows gut to buy a scratch-off lottery ticket, wins $500,000
An Aynor woman followed a gut feeling to play the lottery and ended up winning $500,000, the South Carolina Education Lottery said Monday.
The woman said she was on her way to work, when something told her to turn into the Aynor Food Mart on Highway 501 E., a press release said.
She bought a $10 scratch-off. At first she thought she only won $500 on the ticket, but eventually scratched off three more zeroes to reveal the $500,000 prize. Then there were happy tears, the release said.
“It felt like a dream and was the most amazing feeling in the world,” she said of the win.
Her first purchase is a new home, she told lottery officials.
The winner overcame odds of 1 in 660,000 to win $500,000 in the $500,000 Multiplier Money game.
Aynor Food Mart in Aynor received a commission of $5,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
