Here’s a look inside the first Chipotle in Conway SC. Check it out
Chipotle’s first Conway location opened on Wednesday.
The fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain is located at 2290 US-501 in Conway’s Tradewinds Plaza, along with Food Lion and Eggs Up Grill. The Conway restaurant joins three other locations in the Myrtle Beach area.
The restaurant was expected to open on Aug. 31, but construction was delayed due to supply chain issues. “I’ve been hearing for months now how excited people are for this location to open,” said General manager Cameron Diaz.
Diaz expects to draw customers from the nearby Conway Medical Center and Coastal Carolina University.
The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and the only drive up ‘Chipoltlane’ in the Myrtle Beach area, where customers can pick up mobile orders from their cars. Like other Chipotle locations, the menu includes burritos, tacos and guacamole.
Ten customers waited in the drizzle for the restaurant’s 10:45 a.m. opening. Savannah Amick of Conway was first in line with her 3 and 1-year-old sons.
“We’ve been waiting for a new Chipotle to come closer to our side of the beach for a while,” she said.
She predicts her family will come for Chipotle’s kids’ quesadillas around seven times a month.
The opening day was also a family affair for Emily Saenz, who brought her father, Chris. While Emily eats Chipotle steak bowls every week, it was Chris’s first time. With the opening of the more convenient Conway location, he says, “I’ll probably be back.”
