Mom of 10-year-old student sues Horry school district after she says he was attacked on bus
A mother of a Horry County school student says in a lawsuit against the Horry County School District a bus driver assaulted her child, causing him physical and psychological harm.
Ariel Phillips claims the employee attacked her 10-year-old on March 3 because he had a snack, according to the suit filed Nov. 16.
An email was sent Monday to the school district seeking comment but was not immediately returned.
The student had lip and eye injuries, which required a medical visit, along with emotional distress and “concern and fear over what happened on the school bus and continues to be in need of counseling,” according to the suit.
The unnamed employee was charged with unlawful neglect of a child, the suit states.
It is not clear if the incident happened before or after school.
