A North Myrtle Beach staple restaurant has closed its doors after more than 20 years of being in business.

Duffy Street Seafood Shack Main Street announced in late September that the restaurant would be closing its doors, citing the state of the economy as a reason.

”Unfortunately, hardships from COVID-19 and the current state of our economy has been too much,” the owners said in a Facebook post. “After 27 years in business we have decided to shut the doors for good. Thank your local restaurant owner for taking it on the chin for America during the past two years. The restaurant industry has suffered and is continuing to suffer tremendously. Real people, real lives are real families are feeling the pain!”

A sign on the restaurant’s door recommends visiting the sister location, Harold’s on the Ocean, an oceanfront seafood restaurant.

Duffy Street Seafood Shack Main Street is the second location to close. The Duffy St Seafood Shack on Sea Mountain Hwy announced that the restaurant was up for lease as a turn-key opportunity in June earlier this year. A turn-key lease includes all equipment, dinnerware, and amenities in the lease.
