One person killed after crash involving school bus in Horry County, officials say
One person has died following a two vehicle crash involving a school bus in Horry County Monday, authorities said.
The school bus was traveling on Cedar Branch road and entered S.C. 9 and didn’t yield the right of way and was hit by a Chevy truck, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Brian Lee.
He said the Chevy driver died.
None of the passengers on the bus were hurt, including the seven students on board, Lee added.
The coroner’s office will release the identity of the deceased at a later date.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid east Highway 9 Business and Cedar Branch Road in Loris because traffic is blocked, according to Horry County Fire Rescue’s Facebook post.
South Carolina Department of Public Safety is investigating.
