Carolina Forest area apartment fire injures one, displaces 20 renters

Twenty Horry County residents are now without homes after a large apartment fire broke out in the Carolina Forest area early this morning.

Anthony Casey with the Horry County Fire Rescue team released that one person was treated for minor injuries and the 20 residents who had to be displaced were offered help from the American Red Cross of South Carolina.

Fire fighters were dispatched at about 1:35 a.m. on Friday morning to White River Drive which is in the River Oaks area.

Nine apartments were heavily burned within one building and two nearby buildings sustained heat damage.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
