Mosquitoes expected to be ‘severe’ in the Myrtle Beach area for Labor Day weekend

The Myrtle Beach and Florence areas are predicted to have a severe amount of mosquitoes during Labor Day weekend, according to OFF!Cast, a mosquito forecaster made by the popular bug repellent brand.

“OFF! Suggests Americans PREtect themselves by applying bug spray before heading to their outdoor festivities because once bugs start to bite, it’s already too late,” read a release from the company.

Also listed in the release are some helpful facts about mosquitoes and mosquito bites.

“Mosquitoes are especially drawn to body heat and lactic acid, a substance your body emits when you sweat, as well as carbon dioxide which you expel while breathing,” the release read.

The release also notes that mosquitoes are attracted to dark-colored clothing and can bite through it. OFF! suggests using a repellent on one’s clothes.
