Free parking is on its way: What to know about vacationing in Myrtle Beach after Labor Day

Labor Day is next week, and that means tourist season along the Grand Strand is almost at its end.

For locals and visitors alike, that also means there won’t be as many limitations during beach days.

Here are some rules that will no longer be in effect as the Myrtle Beach area enters the fall season.

Myrtle Beach

  • After Labor Day, leashed dogs and bicycles are allowed on the boardwalk and beach at all times.
  • Tents and canopies up to 12-by-12 square feet are allowed after Labor Day. But they must be 10 feet behind the umbrella line. Baby tents are allowed all year.
  • Kayaks and surfboards are no longer limited to certain areas and times after Labor Day.

  • Meter parking season ends Oct. 31.

North Myrtle Beach

  • Umbrellas, canopies and other shading devices of all sizes are no longer prohibited on the beach after Sept. 15.
  • Surfboards and skim boards are allowed on the beach at anytime after Sept. 15.
  • Meter parking season ends Oct. 31.

Surfside Beach

  • Dogs are allowed on the beach at all times after Labor Day.

  • Beach umbrellas and other shading equipment that does not exceed 10 feet by 10 feet is allowed on the beach year-round.
  • Paid parking ends Oct. 31.
