The man charged with the 2019 North Myrtle Beach killing of Arnold Jamal “Juice” Bennett is now facing life in prison, according to a release from the solicitor’s office.

Darrell Demarcus Land, 34, of Blythewood, SC has been convicted of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime and received his official sentence of life in prison on Thursday, July 28, according to the release.

Bennett was last seen almost exactly three years ago, on Aug. 4, 2019. Land was said to have shot and killed Bennett then dumped his body “in a wooded area off Old Sanders Road near Robert Edge Parkway,” according to the release.

Two city workers found his remains over three weeks later on Aug. 30.

“This was a complicated case involving multiple police departments,” said Mary-Ellen Walter, the senior assistant solicitor. “Both the Myrtle Beach Police Department which took the initial missing person report and the Horry County Police Department, which took over the investigation did an outstanding job. Special thanks go to Detective Ken Marcus for his perseverance in ensuring justice for Mr. Bennett.”
