Myrtle Beach group set to host rally for reproductive rights. Here is when and where.

An opportunity is coming to Myrtle Beach this week following the Supreme Court’s Friday decision to overturn Roe v Wade.

Many rallies and protests broke out across the country following the supreme court’s decision. Big cities like Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville also participated in rallies with both sides coming out.

Grand Strand Action Together is a local nonprofit group “dedicated to service, education, and advocacy” according to their website.

The organization has hosted many events advocating for different trending issues including prison reform, open carry permits and gun violence, and voter suppression.

In the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned, GSAT has organized a rally for reproductive rights on Wednesday, June 29 in Chapin Memorial Park at 6 p.m.

Treasurer of GSAT, Lorraine Woodward said they are all “very upset” by what happened with Roe v. Wade, and the rally for reproductive rights was created in response to the court’s decision.

“We are hoping we galvanize action so that people realize they have to vote to put people in [office] that are going to protect women’s rights. If anyone is so naive to think that abortion is the only thing that is going to be stripped from women, they are very naive,” Woodward said.

GSAT has been receiving lots of emails since Friday from young women looking for ways to volunteer and encourage voting in the community, according to Woodward.
