Coming Myrtle Beach during Pride month? Here are the 11 LGBTQ+-friendly places.
June is LGBTQ+ Pride month, so you may be seeings all sorts of rainbow flags in the windows of many businesses and in the lawns of some homes in the Grand Strand area.
There are lots of Pride month-centered events coming up but if you are just looking for a casual place to hang out whether you are a local or visitor, a part of the community or just an ally, you can visit any of the local places that are actively celebrating and welcoming the LGBTQ+ community that The Sun News has listed below.
Many of the businesses listed below were determined to be LGBTQ+-friendly by either Pride Myrtle Beach or Grand Strand Pride, two organizations in Horry County that work to identify places in the county where everyone in the community is welcome.
Restaurants, Bars, Coffee Shops
Beach Dreams Market & Hempie Town
Mr. Fish Restaurant & Seafood Market
Churches, Religious Organizations
Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church
Shepherd of The Sea Lutheran Church
All in all, the LGBTQ+ community can feel comfortable just about any where in Horry County
“I rarely hear about anywhere someone doesn’t feel safe in Myrtle Beach. The eastern part of the county is very accepting,” Terry Livingston, executive director of Grand Strand Pride, said. “The LGBTQ+ community no longer has to limit themselves to the gay bars, but are welcome at practically all restaurants and bars.”
Craig McGee, executive director of Pride Myrtle Beach, also said that the Grand Strand area is generally accepting and welcoming of all people.
“I’ve been in the area for 30 years and I’ve never had any real issues, anywhere that I’ve never been,” McGee said. “I think the businesses seem to be pretty open and welcoming, and I feel comfortable just about anywhere.”
If you are looking to attend any Pride events in Horry County this month, you can look at the Pride Myrtle Beach calendar and the Grand Strand Pride website.
