A pedestrian was killed on Sunday night after being struck by a 2002 GMC Yukon traveling north on Kings Road near Queens Road, according to Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The name of the deceased is Thomas Watts, 57, from the Myrtle Beach area, according to Darris Fowler, deputy coroner for Horry County.

The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. about a mile north of Myrtle Beach.

The driver did not sustain any injuries and was the only person in the car, Tidwell said.

The pedestrian was in the road when the collision happened.
