Pilot dead after small plane crash at North Myrtle Beach airport
One person has died after an airplane crash Saturday, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.
David Flading, 56, was flying a small plane Saturday when it wrecked at the Grand Strand Airport around 2 p.m., Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden said. He was the only person in the aircraft.
Flading is from Pennsylvania, but he was a longtime Myrtle Beach-area resident.
It is not clear what caused the crash.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Agency are investigating the incident.
The city’s fire department and police department responded to the crash, along with Horry County Fire and Rescue.
