Cyclist killed in Myrtle Beach hit-and-run on U.S. 17

A person riding a bicycle was killed by an unknown driver on May 5 at 10:30 p.m., said Trooper Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The name of the deceased has not been released yet. Details on why or where the deceased was traveling is still unknown.

The hit and run occurred on U.S. 17 near Catherine Avenue and Myrtle Beach State Park. Both the bicyclist and the driver were traveling south.

There is also no information available about the driver responsible for the bicyclist’s death.

Those who have any information on the person killed is being asked by SCHP to contact the Horry County Coroner’s Office at (843) 915-5110.
