Smoke may linger as Horry County Fire Rescue battles 5 acre outdoor fire
Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a 5-acre fire in Galivants Ferry on Sunday, officials said.
The outdoor fire in the 6000 block of Lundy Shortcut Road has been contained, the department said on Facebook at about 3:20 p.m. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 1:12 p.m., according to the department.
No injuries have been reported.
Fire officials warn people may see smoke in the area. There is no threat to the public, officials said.
The South Carolina Forestry Commission is assisting.
